Does Medicare Cover Wheelchairs?
Almost daily customers will ask if Medicare will cover a manual wheelchair. Medicare has very clear criteria to qualify for a manual wheelchair, whether it is a
- standard wheelchair
- lightweight wheelchair
- high strength wheelchair
- or heavy duty wheelchair.
First and foremost, you must have a prescription and doctors notes that meet Medicare's requirements. We work with your doctor to make sure all documents qualify. After you qualify, we will dispense your wheelchair that Medicare and a secondary insurance will rent for 13 months. Kind of like a rent to own. After 13 months of rental, the wheelchair becomes yours to keep!
But never fear! If your doctors notes do not qualify, you can privately rent or purchase a wheelchair at anytime. Just come in or call us anytime! We are always here to help, and YES we deliver!
